Pettaria is a young Dutch start-up operating in the pet and animal retail sector.
Although still small in size, it is driven by the clear ambition to grow into a significant competitor among established pet retailers in the Netherlands. When our collaboration began, Pettaria had no digital presence at all. There was no website, no online shop, and no content strategy. For a company entering a highly competitive industry, establishing a strong digital foundation was essential. With a catalogue of thousands of products waiting to be placed online, the brand faced the challenge of building everything from the ground up while ensuring future scalability and operational efficiency.
Challenge
The greatest challenge for Pettaria was starting entirely from zero.
With no existing online systems or processes, the company needed a full digital infrastructure capable of supporting rapid growth from day one. Since the brand aimed to compete with established market leaders, simply building a basic web shop would not be enough. The solution needed to be automated, efficient, and adaptable to the fast pace of e-commerce operations. Manual data entry for thousands of products was not realistic, and without a digital presence, there was no way to reach customers or generate traction. The pressure was on to build an operational, automated platform as quickly and effectively as possible, especially since there were no traditional constraints in budget or resources to dictate a slower approach. The challenge became one of speed, accuracy, and continuous iteration.
Execution
To bring Pettaria’s digital vision to life, we designed an approach centred on automation, scalability, and flexibility.
The Shopify platform provided a robust and dependable foundation for the online store, ensuring stability even as the number of products and customers grows. On top of this, we implemented extensive automation workflows through n8n, allowing previously manual actions to run smoothly in the background. These automations handled product ingestion, categorization, SEO-driven content publication, and other repetitive tasks, significantly reducing the operational workload.
The client placed complete trust in our expertise and gave us full autonomy to determine the best methods and solutions. This freedom enabled rapid decision-making and continuous experimentation. The development process involved many cycles of trial and error, particularly when working with n8n automations, which required frequent adjustments and fine-tuning to ensure consistent performance. Some workflows initially behaved unpredictably, but through persistent refinement, we established a stable and highly efficient automation system. Throughout the process, collaboration remained seamless, with our team fully managing both the strategic direction and technical implementation.
Result & Future Projects
Pettaria now has a fully operational and automated online store that allows them to participate seriously in the digital pet retail market.
The platform supports fast product updates, consistent content generation, and streamlined operations. Order handling has become quicker and more efficient, contributing to improved customer satisfaction and increasing order volume. The business has not only become digital but also significantly more optimized in terms of speed and process efficiency. All project goals have been successfully met, and the platform continues to evolve as the business grows.
Our collaboration is ongoing and focuses on continual improvement. We continue to add new content to the website, monitor the system’s performance, enhance automations where possible, and address any issues that arise. Although there are no new separate projects planned at the moment, the current partnership remains active and central to Pettaria’s digital growth strategy.

This project stands out because it allowed us to build an entire digital identity and operational backbone from the ground up.
Instead of modernizing an existing system, we had the unique challenge and opportunity to create one entirely from scratch. The extensive reliance on n8n pushed us into new technical territory and strengthened our expertise in automation-driven development. It demonstrated how powerful automation can be in shaping the operational efficiency of a business. As the project continues, we remain committed to enhancing and scaling the ecosystem we created, supporting Pettaria’s ambition to become a strong competitor within the Dutch pet retail sector.
